Take a fresh look at what you already have: yarns, small pieces of felt, pre-felt offcuts, silk scraps, and fibres left over from previous projects. I always encourage my students not to throw away any felt they create. Sometimes a piece doesn’t quite “click” — and that’s the perfect opportunity to give it a new life. In this project, we’ll dream, design, and transform leftover felt into a truly unusual scarf or shawl, full of texture, colour, and personality.

This 3/4 sleeve wrap sweater is a beautiful upcycled project, created by bringing together felt samples and earlier pieces that didn’t quite “click.” A perfect example of how “unfinished” work can become something truly special and wearable.

This project is a perfect opportunity to combine felting with other textile skills — or to learn something new. Create a sweater or top in a style you love, blending felt with crochet or knitting. Felting Connections – At the Heart of Our Community

Felting Connections is very close to my heart, and it represents the core ethos of the Felt With Lena community. My aim has always been to make feltmaking education accessible and affordable, while creating a space where people can learn, grow, and genuinely connect with one another. I’ve seen beautiful things happen when people come together. Sarah joined the club as a complete beginner and discovered that she lived not far from Omi, a highly experienced feltmaker and teacher. Through the community, they connected, and Sarah gained the confidence and opportunity to attend Omi’s workshops. With encouragement from the group and fellow feltmakers, Diane went on to deliver her very first workshops. Omi found new inspiration and ideas for creative sessions with children, and Mary gained the courage to apply for her first craft fair. Lorelei started her feltmaking business and is now successfully selling her designs. These are just a few examples of what Felting Connections is about — learning together, supporting one another, and growing in confidence, creativity, and friendship. There are many stories like these inside the membership, and each one reminds me why this community matters so much.

I have the chance to learn an incredible amount

Every video within all classes includes a dedicated discussion area where you can ask questions at any time. Questions can be answered by other members in the community and are always answered by Lena.

You’re never left wondering or learning alone.

All content is delivered online and is available immediately after you join.

You will also be invited to an onboarding call, where Lena will guide you through the membership and show you exactly where to find everything, helping you feel confident from the start.

MEET FELTMAKER, TEACHER & CREATIVE COMPANION

LENA ARCHBOLD

Lena Archbold is a feltmaker, textile artist, and teacher. She was born in Ukraine and is now living and creating in the North East of England, where she designs one-of-a-kind wearable art using wool, silk, and a wide range of natural fibres. Her creative journey began with garment making, knitting, crochet, and sewing, before she discovered the magical world of feltmaking.

Lena discovered feltmaking in 2011, during one of the most challenging times of her life, while battling a blood cancer. Felting became a source of healing, focus, and strength — a way of “painting with wool” that offered both creative freedom and deep calm. What began as a personal lifeline grew into a lifelong passion and a way to support others on their own creative journeys.

Lena has been teaching feltmaking since 2012 and has been teaching online since 2018 through her school Felt With Lena. In November 2022, she launched the Felt With Lena Membership, creating a supportive global community where people of all experience levels learn new techniques, build confidence, and grow together in a kind, encouraging environment.
